Sika Vietnam is seeking candidates for EHS SPECIALIST to provide full support to the Admin & EHS Manager and Financial Controller in managing Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) matters, with a strong focus on chemical safety, legal compliance, and training activities, in accordance with Vietnamese regulations, ISO systems, and Sika corporate standards.
Job Description
- Compliance and Regulation
- Ensure compliance with chemical, environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to Sika’s operations.
- Ensure that employees under your supervision are aware of all known or reasonably foreseeable safety, health, and environmental hazards in their workplace.
- Keep the company updated with new or revised legal requirements related to chemical management.
- Monitor and control the usage of restricted or regulated chemicals, ensuring proper licensing and compliance procedures.
- Represent the company during inspections and meetings with regulatory agencies (e.g., Vietnam Chemical Agency, DOIT).
- EHS & Chemical Training
- Conduct induction and periodic chemical safety training for new and existing employees to ensure compliance with legal and corporate requirements.
- Coordinate with the HR/ Training department to conduct training courses.
- Chemical Management
- Maintain legal records and documentation for chemical safety, including SDS, labeling, permits, declarations, and compliance reports.
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of chemical safety procedures.
- Prepare and submit periodic reports on chemical usage and EHS performance to internal and external stakeholders.
- EHS Activities and Supervision
- Perform EHS activities such as Safety Walk, Safety Talk, Safety Moment, BBS, 6S, PSSI, process safety, SpheraCloud reporting, hazard analysis and risk assessment, control measures, chemical safety, Safety Newsletter, and Safety Online sharing.
- Monitor EHS data, targets, and objectives.
- Conduct EHS inspections and implement emergency response plans for incidents such as fires, chemical leaks, or first aid..
- Develop and maintain Sika EHS guidelines and minimum requirements.
- Implement EHS-related projects and events, such as fire protection programs and Safety Day.
- Monitor and manage waste systems and conduct periodic environmental monitoring as per legal requirements and company regulations.
- Advise stakeholders on EHS and legal compliance matters.
- Incident Management and Coordination
- Carry out accident/near-miss prevention and investigations.
- Act as a Safety Committee Leader and collaborate with other departments in occupational health and safety duties.
- Coordinate internal and external EHS audits and work with local authorities on annual inspections and corrective actions.
- Verify legal and EHS-related licenses from suppliers/ contractors.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Prepare periodic KPI and Sustainability & Operations reports for Regional and Corporate levels.
- Report EHS matters to the management team and authorities.
- Maintain well-organized records and documentation for timely access.
- Other Responsibilities
- Maintain and inspect emergency response equipment such as First Aid kits, spill kits, fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, etc.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the EHS & Admin Manager and Financial Controller.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field (mandatory).
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in chemical-related roles, preferably in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- Experience in conducting safety training. Holding a valid certificate for chemical safety training is a strong advantage. Candidates without a certificate must be willing to complete a “Trainer to Trainer” course after employment
- Technical knowledge:
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (certification is a plus)..
- Experience in EIA reports, environmental permit, chemical permits, and communications with authorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Vietnamese speaking with good command of English, both written and spoken, is required for reading technical documents and effective communication with regional and corporate teams.
- Responsible, detail-oriented, proactive, good communication and teamwork skills.
