ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Team Leader to guide and support a team of artists in delivering high-quality digital assets for game environments. This role bridges communication between the Art Director (AD)/ Associate Art Director (AAD) and artists, ensuring project alignment, technical consistency, and team development. As a Team Leader, you’ll oversee artistic production while also mentoring team members, nurturing their growth, and cultivating future leaders.
- Ensure all work delivered by the team meets consistent quality standards aligned with the AD/AAD’s vision and the product’s artistic goals.
- Check in with artists daily to review progress, provide feedback, and resolve blockers.
- Assign tasks based on skill level and encourage individual development.
- Provide timely updates and clear communication to Producers to support project planning and delivery.
- Partner closely with Producers to align task scope, timelines, and deliverables, while maintaining accountability for the team’s output and creative direction.
- Identify risks early and collaborate with relevant departments (e.g., Production, AD/AAD, Tech Art) to create practical mitigation plans.
- Collaborate with AD/AAD, Technical Artists, and QC to develop best practices and efficient workflows.
- Contribute to level building efforts, including asset creation, modular environment systems, lighting setup, and scene integration to ensure both creative and technical goals are met.
- Create clear documentation (e.g., checklists, briefs, feedback guides) to support team alignment and production efficiency.
- Participate in client meetings and reviews when needed to help communicate progress, clarify scope, and ensure client satisfaction.
- Support the development of team members through coaching, mentorship, and skills tracking.
- Identify and nurture potential future Team Leaders and Lead Artists.
- Stay up to date with industry techniques, tools, and project developments.
- Encourage collaboration between teams and actively share knowledge across projects and departments.
- Strong artistic skills in environment asset production and understanding of related workflows.
- Proficient in common game art tools and engines (e.g., Maya, ZBrush, Substance, Unreal).
- Excellent understanding of written briefs, art direction, and documentation creation.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills.
- Proactive, driven, and solutions-oriented, with a passion for innovation and quality.
- Well-organized with solid time and team management abilities.
- Collaborative and adaptable mindset with a high standard of professionalism.
- Able to participate in meetings and written communication in English.
- Familiarity with production tracking tools like JIRA or Basecamp is a plus.
