Job Description
A Pastry Commis is an entry-level kitchen role responsible for assisting with the preparation and production of desserts and baked goods, under the guidance of Pastry Demi and Pastry CDP . Key duties include prepping ingredients (mis-en-place), maintaining kitchen hygiene and food safety, monitoring stock, following recipes and presentation standards, and supporting the overall team's operations. They are expected to be meticulous, organized, and eager to learn new skills in a busy kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation:
Prepares, cooks, and presents pastry items according to recipes and quality standards under the instruction of senior chefs.
Ingredient Management:
Organizes, rotates, and labels food stock, and assists with receiving and storing deliveries.
Hygiene and Safety:
Maintains a high standard of personal and kitchen hygiene, ensures equipment defects are reported, and adheres to all food safety procedures and regulations.
Kitchen Support:
Carries out opening and closing procedures, assists in the management of food costs, and maintains clean and organized work areas.
Teamwork:
Works effectively as part of the pastry team, communicates clearly with colleagues, and contributes to a positive kitchen atmosphere.
