Your role
The Senior Coordinator, Research Capability in the Office for Research & Innovation (ORI) supports the delivery of strategically relevant programs to develop and enable researcher capability at RMIT Vietnam, including research orientations, capability development research trainings, seminars, SEUP Editorial Support Scheme, research awards, prizes and competitions, and new systems introduce to support research (ie. Research Professional). In addition, the position is tasked with supporting initiatives that connect academics with clusters of research capacity at RMIT Australia and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.
The Senior Coordinator, Research Capability will liaise with subject matter experts, senior leaders within the Schools and across R&I in Australia to ensure fit for purpose research capability opportunities for researchers at RMIT Vietnam. In addition to research trainings and orientations, this also includes the delivery of research seminars to showcase the research of RMIT Vietnam academics and to provide networking opportunities for researchers across the schools and with external industry partners.
In 2025, RMIT Vietnam is planning to launch a new Research Capability Framework. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the future of Research at RMIT Vietnam. This will require high-level coordination with units across RMIT Vietnam and Australia.
Reports to: Manager, Research Capability
Key Accountabilities
Work closely with the Manager, Research Capability and the Teams in R&I (Australia and Vietnam) to help plan and execute the new RMIT Vietnam Research Capability Framework. This includes supporting initiatives that connect RMIT Vietnam academics with clusters of research capacity at RMIT Australia.
Manage stakeholder relationships across a range of units at RMIT Vietnam, including School leadership, Human Resources, Finance, Legal and School Administration, in close collaboration with the Manager, in relation to the implementation of research capability development initiatives.
In charge of handling any transition to new online systems to improve the capacity of the Office/university where it relates to the management of research.
Organise research events, trainings, orientations, awards, competitions, support schemes and seminars in consultation with Manager, Research Capability, that provide opportunities to promote research impact and partnerships across the university and with external partners.
In collaboration with the Manager, Research Capability, School administration and Research Capability Development in R&I Melbourne, organise the delivery of research capability trainings that promote continual improvement of research capacity at RMIT Vietnam.
Perform other duties as required within the Office in support of driving research @ RMIT Vietnam. Be a positive change influencer and advocate for service excellence and continuous improvement across R&I.
Key Selection Criteria
Bachelor degree or above and significant relevant experience in a similar position.
Have at least 3 years of experience in relevant fields.
Knowledge of IT and Multi-media related applications preferred
Knowledge of research services, and/or the administration of external research funding preferred
Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to confidently handle a range of situations with people from a diverse range of academic and business backgrounds.
Experience in the interpretation of complex guidelines as well as identifying key information required for data entry and a high level of attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently within a team as well as autonomously under broad direction.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with proven ability to manage multiple tasks and the flexibility to re-adjust workload priorities to meet competing deadlines.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to continuous improvement projects.
Demonstrated high level of proficiency in the use of MS Office suite; internet and information management systems.
Well-developed skills in managing a secretariat; including the development of documents including Minutes, Agendas, Reports etc.
Additional Information
Contract duration: 12 months
Highly competitive gross salary (VND 35,500,000 - VND 41,000,000 per month), depending on experience and qualifications
Annual leave: 1 day per working month

English Proficiency
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS General 6.0 (or equivalent Linguaskill 160).
