When you're an engineer at Grab, you'll help shape the heart and soul of the company. Our team's mission is to create amazing services and tools that impact hundreds of millions of consumers, driving partners, and fellow Grabbers every day.
We're improving our food delivery and supermarket platforms, handling tens of millions of bookings daily. New code reaches hundreds of millions of users quickly. You'll enhance features for our consumer and delivery-partner facing app, focusing on Deliveries, but we'll always welcome your fresh ideas. You'll work on one of the largest codebases in Southeast Asia, making a impact.
Get to Know the Role
We're looking for Android Engineers to join our team. You'll report to the Engineering Manager and have the chance to work on multiple app clients with multiple programming languages. Identifying problems and having the initiative and skills to solve them is crucial in this role.
This role is based in Ho Chi Minh city and on-site
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
You will:
- Work on both product development and engineering improvements.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to understand requirements, provide feedback, and lead the implementation process from start to finish.
- Participate in technical discussions with other engineering teams.
- Write reusable, scalable, and testable code and ensure high-quality product delivery.
- Work with QAs to ensure our app releases meet the requirement for which we're known.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on code written by team members.
- Improve the codebase and propose better engineering solutions.
- Be responsible and responsive during on-call duty, debugging and troubleshooting production issues.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to peers.
Qualifications
What Essential Skills You Will Need
- 4+ years of Android development experience.
- Understanding of programming paradigms such as OOP, TDD, reactive programming, and dependency injection.
- Working knowledge of several architectural approaches including clean architecture.
- Experience in writing maintainable and testable code, including API design, unit testing, and UI testing techniques.
- Experience in maintaining applications with a high user base by crash analytics, remote debugging, and continuous integration.
- Accountable and takes ownership of one's own work.
