About the role:
As Hardware Signal/Power Integrity Engineer, you will be directly working in the Package and Systems group. Being part of a dedicated team, you will focus on system level signal/power characteristics to meet design specifications. Open communications, empowerment, innovation, teamwork and customer success are the foundations of the team. A motivated Signal/Power Integrity Engineer will contribute to the development of our next generation product.
The SI/PI aspect of high-speed interfaces, such as PCIe, CCIX, DDR, etc., proves to be a formidable challenge, especially in a world where technology keeps evolving. Moreover, the demand for high-density integration and being cost-effective makes the package design and analysis a complex process. Therefore, architecture becomes inherently linked to the floorplan, and interconnect is now extremely important.
The Package/SI Engineering Team at Ampere Computing comprises of stellar folks who have dedicated themselves to making the best products. We are passionate about inventing industry leading cloud-native solutions, which contribute to a brighter future. Being an integral part of the server platform process that ensures our product gets the absolute highest quality products, we also collaborate with Hardware Platform and Silicon engineering teams to provide the best solution.
What you’ll achieve:
- Review package and PCB layout design for signals and power delivery network
- Research, analyze, and implement the latest components on the market for our products
- Perform and analyze pre-layout and post-layout simulations for signals and power delivery network including:
- Frequency-domain extraction: S – Parameter model
- Time-domain simulation: transient simulation, statistical simulation, etc.
- Document simulation results, simulation methodology, and present data analysis with internal and external teams
- Collaborate with Package layout engineers, Hardware and Silicon engineering teams to optimize layout design
About you:
- 2+ years of experience in the field of signal and power integrity
- Solid understanding of electromagnetic theory, electrical circuit theory and power delivery network (PDN)
- Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and self-study skills for identifying the root causes, discussing with team and implementing the solution.
- Ability to interact effectively with other engineering teams
- Experienced in using EDA simulation tools such as Cadence Sigrity PowerSI/PowerDC, Ansys SiWave/HFSS, Keysight ADS, etc.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills
- Familiar with:
- multi-gigabit serial links, including CCIX, PCIe, XAUI, XFI, and SFI
- memory technologies such as LPDDR3/DDR4/DDR5
- standard interfaces, such as I2C, SPI, QSPI, JTAG, SCAN
- chip/package/PCB co-design methodology
- Timing assessment, noise margin, crosstalk, channel loss and reflection of clocks/critical data signaling
- developing noise and timing budgets
- Analysis of high-speed interconnect structures using simulation tools
- Experience in package and system-level power integrity evaluation
- Analog circuit and communication system knowledge are preferred
