POSITION PURPOSE
The Video Content Creator & Editor will work with our instructional designers to create high-quality video content for our online and hybrid courses. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative graduate or junior professional to grow in the field of education and media production. You’ll gain hands-on experience in video production, editing, and design, while making a direct impact on the quality of our learning materials. The designer will have an opportunity to make their creative mark on a newly established and growing department, crafting and developing the style and visual language of BUV Online instructional videos, while being challenged to deliver knowledge succinctly and clearly – enhancing learner engagement and teaching practice.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Edit raw footage, visual assets, and text based on storyboards from instructional designers to create polished, engaging video content.
- Maintain consistency in BUV Online ‘house style’, creating typographic templates to quickly deliver consistent and well laid out content.
- Improve upon or create design solutions for new content types, matching the style and visual character of BUV Online
- Develop motion graphics for featured elements where appropriate; typically titles, graphs, charts, flows etc.
- Work closely with instructional designers and subject matter experts to ensure content accuracy and engagement.
- Organize and archive video assets to ensure efficient retrieval and management of multimedia files.
- Review video footage to maintain production quality, adhering to brand guidelines and accessibility standards.
POSITION SPECIFICATIONS
COMPETENCIES (knowledge, skills, and abilities)
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in media production or creative field with focus on video production.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro with knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Illustrator, Photoshop.
- Familiarity with cameras, microphones, and lighting setups.
- A demo reel or portfolio showcasing relevant video work (educational or instructional videos are a plus).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to take direction and work collaboratively.
- Independence, creative decision-making, and initiative
- High standards for visual quality and an eye for detail.
- Willingness to ideate, experiment, and come up with creative design solutions that fit within the instructional video genre.
Desirable
- Familiarity with online course platforms or e-learning content.
- Knowledge of instructional design or pedagogical principles
