The Manager, Consulting is a management role, responsible for managing the delivery of technology consulting services to clients and to evaluate strategies and solutions on all aspects of enterprise technology requirements.
This role also streamlines consulting engagement procedures by linking the business mission, strategy, and processes of an organization to its Information Technology strategy.
The primary objective of this role is to manage and coordinate activities and initiatives that lead to the delivery of technology consulting services.
This management role is responsible for fostering a collaborative and high-performing culture across the consulting team within their remit.
Key responsibilities:
1. Business Process Analysis & Solution Design
- Analyze and understand manufacturing business processes, including product design, production engineering, BOM and routing management, MRP, production orders, shop floor data collection, inventory allocation, and shipping.
- Lead the design and optimization of business processes using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management (SCM), aligning with industry best practices.
- Conduct Fit & Gap analysis between business requirements and D365 standard functionalities, and propose implementation approaches using standard features, customizations, and integrations.
- Evaluate D365 applicability for various manufacturing models such as multi-stage production, engineer-to-order (ETO), make-to-order (MTO), make-to-stock (MTS), and mixed-mode manufacturing.
2. System Integration & Data Management
- Define and design integration requirements with surrounding systems such as MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and production schedulers (e.g., Asprova).
- Support implementation of shop floor data collection (labor time, material consumption, progress tracking, quality metrics) and cost accounting (standard and actual costing) within D365.
3. Consulting Services Delivery & Team Leadership
- Manage and coordinate the delivery of consulting services and implementation solutions to maximize business value from IT investments at client sites.
- Ensure client expectations in performance improvement and cost reduction are met by setting team priorities and providing strategic direction.
- Streamline consulting procedures to help clients adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
- Proactively manage assessment processes and support roadmap and business case development for enterprise technology services.
- Participate in client negotiations as needed to support project success.
- Coach, mentor, and develop consulting team members to ensure alignment with client requirements and project goals.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of client projects.
- Communicate effectively with global teams using English for meetings, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
- If capable in Japanese, support communication and coordination with local stakeholders, and contribute to training and documentation efforts.
- A strong understanding of manufacturing business processes and hands-on experience in production environments.
- Proven experience implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365, particularly in Supply Chain Management modules.
- Demonstrated success in ERP projects, especially in requirements gathering and Fit & Gap analysis.
- Familiarity with MES and production scheduling systems integration.
- Strategic thinking and a solid grasp of consulting business operations.
- Ability to engage and influence stakeholders across various levels and functions.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Business-level English proficiency (spoken and written); Japanese language skills are a plus.
Academic qualifications and certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Information Technology and/or Business Management or a related field.
- Scaled Agile certification desirable.
- Relevant consulting and technical certifications preferred.
Required experience:
- Solid understanding of manufacturing business processes and hands-on experience in production environments.
- Experience implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 (especially Supply Chain Management).
- Proven track record in ERP projects, particularly in requirements definition and Fit & Gap analysis.
- Knowledge of MES and production scheduling systems integration.
