To support the class teacher in creating a warm, safe and stimulating environment where young learners feel valued and thrive. The Early Years Teaching Assistant plays a vital role in supporting children's learning, social and emotional development, and well-being. They work closely with the teaching team and parents, building trusting relationships to ensure every child’s needs are met.
KEY RESULTS AREA
SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS
- Foster a caring, inclusive, and nurturing environment in which all children
- Build positive relationships with children to support their social, emotional
and academic development.
- Assist individual children or small groups, adapting to their needs under
the guidance of the class teacher.
- Encourage independence and model respectful, empathetic interactions
at all times.
- Support children in managing transitions, routines, and resolving conflicts
with kindness and consistency.
- Be attentive to the safety and emotional well-being of all students,
following safeguarding procedures diligently.
SUPERVISION AND MONITORING STUDENTS
- Supervise children attentively during learning time, transitions, outdoor
play, snack/lunch, and rest time.
- Monitor children's behaviour, interactions, and engagement, and alert the
teacher to any concerns.
- Support routines that promote health, hygiene, and self-care in line with
the school’s policies.
- Participate in risk assessments and follow safety guidelines to ensure
children's welfare.
CLASSROOM SUPPORT, PLANNING AND PREPARATION
- Work closely with the class teacher to support lesson delivery through
active engagement in whole-class, group or individual activities.
- Reinforce learning objectives through play-based and inquiry-based
activities, both indoors and outdoors.
- Provide timely feedback to the teacher on children’s progress,
behaviours, or concerns.
- Maintain a well-organised, tidy and welcoming learning environment.
- Assist in the preparation, organisation and tidying of classroom materials
and learning resources.
- Set up and support learning areas that promote exploration, curiosity,
and creativity.
- Prepare displays that celebrate student learning and reflect current
classroom themes or interests.
- Help maintain resources, ensuring they are safe, clean, and appropriate
for young learners.
- Participate in reflective discussions with the teaching team to adapt
strategies for student support.
- Communicate professionally and positively with families, respecting
confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
- Ensure English language is the medium in which instruction is delivered
- Ensure that admin tasks are completed in a timely manner, as requested
by teachers, without impacting students’ support.
OTHER DUTIES
- Present a professional and welcoming image in the classroom and around
the school
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child
protection, equal opportunities, health and safety, security, confidentiality,
data protection and reporting all concerns to the appropriate person.
- Participate in relevant training being provided in the school programme
- Be involved in the performance management process aimed at
improving performance in the role
- Attend staff meetings and other school events as deemed appropriate
by the Principal or Head of Schools.
- Liaise with, or translate for, parents as deemed necessary
- Accompany and support Early Years teachers during home visits to foster
strong relationships with families, gain insights into children's home
environments, and support smooth transitions into school.
- Support of teaching and administrative staff in areas as requested
- Work with different sections/departments as required

Qualification/ Training:
- University graduate – Essential
- Familiarity with the British Curriculum, – Desirable
- Experience in an educational setting where English is the primary language of instruction/communication - Essential
- Understanding of play-based approach to Early Years education– Desirable
