Sika Vietnam is seeking candidates for EHS SPECIALIST to provide full support to the Admin & EHS Manager and Financial Controller in managing environmental compliance, sustainability, and related EHS activities, while also overseeing chemical safety and occupational health & safety matters as required. The role focuses on ensuring Sika’s operations meet all Vietnamese EHS regulations, ISO standards, and corporate sustainability goals.
Job Description
Environmental Management & Compliance (Primary Focus)
- Ensure full compliance with environmental laws, regulations, permits, and corporate standards.
- Keep the company updated with any changes to environmental regulations and legal requirements.
- Manage Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes, environmental licenses, and periodic renewals.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee environmental monitoring (air quality, water, noise, waste) and ensure timely submission to authorities.
- Implement and maintain ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Manage waste collection, segregation, transport, and disposal systems in compliance with legislation.
- Lead sustainability initiatives focusing on energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste minimization.
Health & Safety Management (Integrated Focus)
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety laws and Sika corporate requirements.
- Conduct hazard identification, risk assessment, and recommend control measures.
- Support the implementation of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.
- Oversee emergency preparedness plans, including drills for fire, chemical spills, and evacuation.
- Lead or participate in Safety Committee activities and promote a strong safety culture.
- Monitor workplace ergonomics and occupational health conditions.
Chemical Safety & Hazardous Material Control (Supportive but Essential)
- Maintain oversight of hazardous chemical inventories, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), labeling, and permits.
- Ensure compliance with chemical safety regulations and Sika standards.
- Coordinate chemical safety training and awareness sessions.
- Monitor storage, handling, and disposal practices for hazardous substances to prevent environmental or health risks.
Training & Awareness Development
- Conduct induction and refresher training on environmental protection, occupational health, and workplace safety.
- Collaborate with HR/Training department to deliver annual EHS training plans.
- Promote awareness through campaigns, Safety Moments, and internal communication channels.
Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare KPI reports, Sustainability & Operations reports for Regional and Corporate teams.
- Report EHS incidents, monitoring results, and compliance status to management and authorities.
- Maintain accurate, organized records for audits, inspections, and corporate reviews.
Incident Management & Coordination
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and environmental incidents, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with authorities for inspections, corrective measures, and compliance verification.
- Verify suppliers’ and contractors’ compliance with EHS requirements.
Other Responsibilities
- Perform EHS activities such as Safety Walk, Safety Talk, Safety Moment, BBS, 6S, PSSI, process safety, SpheraCloud reporting, hazard analysis, and risk assessment.
- Act as a Safety Committee Leader and collaborate with other departments in occupational health and safety duties.
- Maintain and inspect emergency response equipment such as First Aid kits, spill kits, fire extinguishers, and eye wash stations.
- Coordinate internal and external EHS audits and work with local authorities on annual inspections and corrective actions.
- Implement EHS-related projects and events, such as fire protection programs and Safety Day.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the EHS & Admin Manager and Financial Controller.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in EHS roles, with strong emphasis on environmental management in manufacturing or industrial sectors.
- Technical knowledge:
- Strong understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 (certification is a plus).
- Familiarity with chemical safety regulations and ISO 9001/50001 is an advantage.
- Experience in environmental permits, EIA, waste management, and dealing with authorities.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical, reporting, and training skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Languages: Vietnamese speaking with good English communication skills (spoken and written).
- Personality Traits: Responsible, detail-oriented, proactive, strong communication and teamwork skills, committed to sustainability and safety.
