About us
Damen Services South East Asia Hub covers the East and South East Asia region and performs a wide range of service activities, including warranty and commercial services, repairs and maintenance work on vessels in operations, various works during the construction phase (new vessels), and support with the vessels delivery to the clients. The scope included as well the sales of parts, equipment, retrofitting, vessel data management, technical training, etc.
Damen Services S.E.A Hub operates in close coordination with the Damen Headquarters in the Netherlands and numerous Damen entities in Vietnam and throughout the world
The role
Technical Documentalist within the Damen Services S.E.A Hub supports the Technical Documentation and Standardization Department at Damen Headquarters in the Netherlands and the Damen Song Cam Shipyard Project Management department with creating the technical documentation packages for the clients of Damen vessels. Packages consist of manuals, certificates, drawings, and data sheets, all tailored to the client’s needs, contracts, specifications, and legal requirements
You will be in control of handling the digital upkeep of these documents, preparing the hard copies, and handing them over to the vessels built in Damen Song Cam Shipyard and potentially other Damen yards in Vietnam before delivery
Key accountabilities
Your tasks are the following:
Collecting data
- Creating Vessel Jobbooks, Drawings lists, and Documents lists with the data/documents to be collected/prepared.
- Collecting systems data on the board of the vessels (pictures of part/serial/certificate numbers) and from the various Damen departments (reports, packing lists, etc).
- Collecting digital and hard copies of certificates, drawings, reports, manuals, and other tech information from Damen departments, OEM/suppliers, class, etc.
Printing/Preparing documentation packages
- Printing collected documentation packages in standard formats (Damen Song Cam facilities) and large formats (externally with the support of purchasers)
- Binding the booklets and adding them into the binders as per the standard instructions, creating the indexes which specify the distribution of the documents in the binders
- Maintaining records on the completeness of the technical documentation packages. Communication with Project Managers over the progress and content of the packages
Handover of the documentation packages (blue boxes)
- Placing printed/hard copies of documentation packages into the blue boxes in the correct order and handing them over to the delivery crews. Arranging delivery of missing documents as
- backorders.
- Reporting to the Technical Documentation and Standardization Department and Project Managers.
Managing the technical database
- Managing the technical databases with technical documentation
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this role you bring:
- Eager to learn and like to think outside the box and come up with the best solution
- Administrative/Certification/Engineering background
- Experience in Shipbuilding/Marine industries will be an advantage
- The drive to develop your knowledge of ship components and shipbuilding techniques
- Can easily communicate with different stakeholders, and ask questions to understand what is expected from you and others
- A good understanding of the English language, both written and spoken;
- Accurate, effective communication skills, both with internal and external clients.
- In addition, you are critical and work accurately. You feel comfortable in a customer focused organization. You can work independently and will proactively look for the necessary information
