Your role
The Job Shop Assistant (JSA) is a student-facing role within the Careers, Alumni and Industry Relations (CAIR) department at RMIT. Based at the Job Shop, the JSA is the first point of contact for students seeking career-related support, providing friendly, accurate, and timely guidance on topics such as CV and cover letter reviews, internship search strategies, and using RMIT’s career platforms. As a current RMIT student, the JSA offers peer-to-peer support, helping fellow students navigate their career journey by sharing resources, offering feedback, and connecting them with relevant services. The role also involves maintaining Job Shop operations, data tracking, and assisting with communication and outreach activities.
Reports to: Manager, Industry Engagement and Career Development
Indirect reports to: Staff members assigned by the manager
Key Accountabilities
General tasks (70%):
Act as the first point of contact in the Job Shop, delivering a positive and friendly customer experience.(Job Shop, Careers Online Portal, Facebook page, one-on-one meetings, online appointments, email and phone correspondence).
Share feedback and preparation support for professional applications (CV, Cover Letter, LinkedIn, Portfolios, Interviews)
Identify customer needs and propose appropriate solutions, such as sharing resources on the Careers Online Portal.
Build strong relationships with all stakeholders (students, alumni & staff), attending monthly Job Shop meetings.
Input and keep track of Job Shop data.
Ensure the neat and professional image of the Job Shop.
Maintain confidentiality in line with RMIT’s Code of Conduct.
Ad-hoc tasks assigned by supervisors.
Creative & Social Media (15%):
Monitor all social media platforms for trending news, ideas, and benchmarks.
Assist in community management and actively promote activities of Careers & Industry Relations and the Job Shop through various channels.
Assist with other creative tasks as assigned involving brochure design, video production, live streams, podcasts, etc.
Event & Operation (15%):
Assist with the planning and hosting of both online and offline mini events/workshops at the Job Shop (or online).
Assist with following up with various stakeholders to check in, ask for feedback, event reminders, etc.
Attend meetings with companies, industry leaders, mentors, etc. to maintain relationships.
Follow up and suggest improving the quality of workshops, and suggest initiatives for upcoming events by researching and analysing the insights.
Key Selection Criteria
Current RMIT student in any program/major
GPA of 2.5 and above
Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented, organized, responsible, reliable, proactive and confident team player with the ability to meet deadlines.
Familiar with design applications and tools (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign or Canva) and knowledge of video editing software.
Previous experience in customer service is an advantage, but not mandatory
Can commit 20 hours/week with 3+ months of employment
Exhibit enthusiasm and interest in learning about career development programs & activities
Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames.
Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position and RMIT Values
Additional Information
Contract duration: 03 months
Workload: 20 hours per week
Net salary: 60,000 VND per hour

English Proficiency
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS General 6.5 (or equivalent Linguaskill 170).
