Job Description:
- Support to conduct ongoing research on products in assigned sector. Collect information from existing suppliers on product availability and opportunities, price, orders and market trends. Attend trade shows to review market goods and trends. Assist to strategically source and follow program guidelines to meet established goals for assigned category.
- Support to evaluate new opportunities in the market, competition for these products and the development of new product resources.
- With Supervisor/Peer’s guidance communicate with buyers on various opportunities found on the market to allow for evaluation and possible purchase. Support to organize trips and appointments to maximize the buyer’s time and results. When required, accompany Sourcing Specialist and Buyer for the entire trip during the selection and negotiation process in order to facilitate the definition of the order.
- Obtain reference samples of merchandise to approve or to send to the buyer or product development team.
- Follow up the orders giving appropriate instructions to manufacturers for preparation and shipment of the merchandise. Communicate orders’ changes to TJX merchandise group, make any required changes in the system and intervene to make sure that merchandise is shipped without discrepancies. Alert Supervisor of potential problems with orders which could impact shipping timetables.
- Once the order is confirmed, coordinate quality control, keeping in mind the requirements of the customer in terms of quality, packaging and shipping methods. Follow a report at the end of the inspection to inform the manufacturer and customer of product problems and suggest the best solution to resolve issues.
- Assist to source new vendors as needed, research and visit new and existing manufacturers, factories required.
- Involve in evaluating each source with the intent of building a long-term business relationship, while guiding them to meet the TJX fashion, quality and value requirements.
- Work closely with team, vendors and global partners on buying calendars, merchandise categories, and production schedules. Negotiate appropriately.
