Role Overview:
We are seeking a Release Manager with a strong focus on Quality Assurance leadership. In this role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of enterprise software releases while directly managing a QA team responsible for ensuring system integrity, performance, and quality. This includes defining and driving test strategies, managing QA resources, and ensuring successful and timely software deployments across environments
Roles & Responsiblities
- Lead end-to-end release management activities across enterprise applications, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to scope, and quality standards.
- Own and continuously improve the release pipeline, including scheduling, coordination, risk management, and deployment planning.
- Manage the QA team responsible for manual and automated testing across all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Define QA strategy, standards, and best practices to align with release goals and overall IT strategy.
- Collaborate with development, product, infrastructure, and business teams to ensure smooth and efficient release cycles.
- Identify and mitigate release risks, issues, and dependencies; drive resolution of issues across cross-functional teams.
- Provide leadership in test environment management, test data creation, and release documentation.
- Coach and mentor QA engineers and team leads; promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance.
- Establish clear KPIs for release success, QA effectiveness, defect metrics, and team productivity.
- Manage team capacity, workload distribution, and resource planning based on project priorities and release cadence.
- Participate in and contribute to IT budget planning related to release operations and QA resourcing.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated experience in software release management, ideally within an enterprise application environment.
- Strong background in QA management, including test planning, execution, automation, and defect management.
- Deep understanding of Agile and DevOps practices; experience with CI/CD pipelines and release tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
- Ability to lead cross-functional efforts and manage multiple releases concurrently.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills; can translate technical details to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to coach, develop, and lead technical teams.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate, identify, and resolve complex issues.
