Senior Merchandiser oversees product development, sourcing, costing, production, and timely delivery of merchandise. They act as the bridge between buyers, suppliers, and internal teams, ensuring that quality, price, and deadlines are consistently met. This role requires strong negotiation, coordination, and analytical skills to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end merchandising process – from product development to shipment.
- Coordinate with buyers, suppliers, and factories to ensure product specifications, pricing, and delivery schedules are met.
- Monitor production timelines, quality control, and order follow-ups.
- Conduct market research and trend analysis to support product planning.
- Negotiate with vendors for best prices, terms, and quality.
- Ensure accurate product costing and maintain margin targets.
- Supervise and guide junior merchandisers/merchandising assistants.
- Prepare reports on sales, order status, and supplier performance.
- Resolve production issues and provide solutions to avoid delays.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and customers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Fashion, Textile, or related field.
- Years of experience in merchandising, preferably in apparel/garments, retail, or manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, trims, and production processes.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
