ABOUT THE POSITION
We are looking for an experienced and visionary Art Director to lead environment art direction across projects, ensuring high-quality visual output and alignment with both client expectations and Virtuos’ creative standards. This role is critical in driving artistic vision, building strong client relationships, and mentoring our teams to deliver immersive, world-class environments.
- Drive the overall artistic vision of environment art projects, either following the client’s direction or establishing a new creative direction.
- Act as the main artistic point of contact for clients, ensuring satisfaction and trust throughout production.
- Collaborate closely with Producers, Team Leaders, and other stakeholders to align creative and production strategies.
- Develop comprehensive documentation and art briefs to guide team understanding and execution.
- Lead and mentor art teams, providing clear, constructive feedback and encouraging creative collaboration.
- Oversee related disciplines such as concept art, lighting, and VFX to maintain artistic cohesion.
- Ensure the quality of all deliverables before they are shared externally, taking full responsibility for final output.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, raising concerns and suggesting solutions proactively.
- Participate in internal and client meetings, industry events, and strategic discussions with BD and Production teams.
- Monitor team growth and performance, contributing to evaluation processes and skill development.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and techniques to inform project direction and team improvement.
- Uphold professional communication and maintain a positive, inclusive studio culture.
- Extensive experience in environment art and game production, ideally with a proven track record in AAA titles.
- Deep understanding of artistic fundamentals, including composition, lighting, color theory, and spatial design.
- Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Photoshop, and Substance Suite.
- Experience with game engines, production pipelines, and documentation best practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional fluency in Mandarin or Vietnamese is a plus.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to balance artistic vision with production constraints, including timelines and budgets.
- Professional maturity and a collaborative spirit, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
